Australian Deaf Games
The first recorded interstate competition between the Deaf was in 1895 when the South Australian and Victorian Deaf Cricket teams played against each other in a friendly match. These competitions gradually expanded to include more sports and other states in what was known as a "Carnivals".
These "Carnivals" were held from about 1911. The First official Australian Deaf Games was held in Sydney in 1964.
Queensland has been involved in the Australian Deaf Games since it was established. The last Australian Deaf Games was held on the Gold Coast in 2008 with Queensland winning the ADFS Cup! The next Australian Deaf Games will be held in Geelong in 2012. We are looking forward to it already!
