Eligibility

Deaf Basketball is available to all players, who have a hearing loss of some level. Supporters and Officials do not need to have a hearing loss, only a desire to help those who do. There is different eligibility for different levels of Deaf Basketball:

International level Deaf Basketball

A hearing loss of 55db in the best ear is required.

Domestic State and Club Competitions

The National Deaf Basketball Club Championships (NDBCC) are administered by Deaf Basketball Australia (DBA).

Strict international guidelines do not apply for hearing loss in this competition to foster growth of the sport for hearing impaired people involved within the deaf community.

However the following criteria applies:

1) A reasonable hearing loss must be present in at least one ear.

2) Athletes must be resident of that state the team is entered from for at least 6 months prior to competition starts.

3) Athletes must be a financial member of that state body.

Proof may be required in each criteria.
