Who can be involved in DSRQ?

  • Anyone who loves playing sport or recreation activities;
  • Deaf /  hearing impaired (any hearing loss):
  • Cochlear Implantee:
  • hearing friends;
  •  Parents of deaf children;
  • Professional people who are working with deaf people e.g. coaches, PE teachers, teachers.

 

What is the Affiliation fee?

  • Affiliation fee is for any sport or recreation clubs who wish to be a member of DSRQ.
  • How much Affiliation fee? Its only $80.00 per year for clubs who have constitutional.
  • For any clubs who don't have constitutional, the cost is $20.00 per year. Who are the non-constitutional like Seniors Group, bush walking club, small sport or recreation clubs.
  • Or any clubs who are still trying to set up a new club - they can still be a members of DSRQ so we can help you while your club still in process becoming a new club.

 

About voting rights for Affiliated Clubs

  • If your club is affiliated with DSRQ then your club can have voting rights at DSRQ's AGM every year.

 

What is Individual Membership?

  • Any person who doesn't have any sport club like Tennis, Athletic, and swimming. They can be a member of DSRQ so they can express about their concerns or ideas to DSRQ.
  • You can still tell the DSRQ - Liaison Officer what you want to tell any concerns or issues that you want to raise at the AGM.  They will tell your concerns at AGM. You will not have any barriers to our organization. We are there for you.

 

What benefits when you become a member of DSRQ?

We have many benefits for examples:

  • Your club will get Deafnews every month - 12 issues per year;
  • Your club will get free workshops provided by Sports and Recreation Qld (SRQ) - there is an interpreter available at any workshops - you need to request for an interpreter prior to the workshops;
  • DSRQ workshops every two months;
  • Attend the Representation meetings every two months to share the ideas e.g. successful fund raising;
  • Your club will get a webpage through DSRQ's website;
  • Public Liability covered by DSRQ - to save your club's money;
  • You will be eligible to participate in Australian Deaf Games or National Deaf sport competition or championship every year;
  • Pathways to State, National and International competitions e.g. Deaf World competitions or Deaflympic Games;
  • Your club will be in the mailing list for any important information distributed from various sporting organisations;
  • Discount entry fees at any DSRQ's fund raising functions;
  • Access to DSRQ's advisory service e.g. understanding of the constitution or by law.  These information will be explained in Auslan from our State Administrator.
