Deaf Sports Day 2009
Deaf Sports Day 2009 kicked off on the 12th September at Runcorn State High School. Over 40 Deaf Children from all over Queensland registered to compete in this annual event hosted by Deaf Sports and Recreation Queensland (DSRQ).
Just like any athletics day but with one huge difference, no starting gun. Flashing starting blocks or flags are used to signal the start of the races. Children competed in Track and Field events including athletics, high jump, discus and the famous Tug of War!
A dedicated team of volunteers runs Deaf Sports Day without them Deaf Sports Day would not be possible. This is the second Deaf Sports Day hosted by DSRQ in Queensland. Deaf sports day is a special day where the children can discover their talents in sport and realise their potential for the future.
