Flashing starting blocks, or flags are used to signal the start of the races. Children compete in Track and Field including distance running(long, middle and short), High Jump, Long Jump, Discus and the famous Tug of war!
Deaf Sports Day gives deaf children the opportunity to learn, compete, meet, socialize and to make new friends with other Deaf children from all over Queensland.

Deaf Sports Day is held in conjunction with Deaf Youth Camp. Deaf Youth camp is unforgettable. It is an amazing experience that your child will never forget. Middle Distance Running Squad
Are you looking to push yourself to new limits next year?
Are you searching for something to boost your confidence, increase your energy, to become healthier, fit and tone and to achieve some success while you're at it?
Well today is your lucky day, this is the perfect social lifestyle for you. Middle distance running will offer a variety of different training sessions and exercises at your own pace, including hills, stretches core stability, ladders, skipping fartlek and interval and repetition running on track, plus short sprint to work on that final finish.
The sessions commenced in November 2009. At the moment, we are holding a free trial run for 3 months.
There will be a fee commencing in February which will be $60 per month, which equal $3 per session.
The good news is that one third of that money will go towards School athletics, X country, Bridge to Brisbane, Australian Deaf Games and a sports shirt.
True Sports Lives Here Program

DSRQ supported this program to encourage deaf and hearing impaired children to understand the positive and good behaviour in sport.
This program is part of Sports and Recreation Queensland.
DSRQ has organised various activities conjunction with True Sports Lives Here.
This program is fantastic resource for us to use to teach deaf and hearing impaired children about good behaviour in sport. It is also good for the parents, spectators and coaches about positive behaviour within sport competitions.
We have given out True Sports certificates to children who participated in Deaf Sports Day every year.
We also give out stickers, fake tattoos and True Sports posters.
Information about this program can be found on the Sports and Recreation Queensland website.
