How can we work together?
DSRQ has a strong partnership with many hearing sporting organisations. We work together to improve access for Deaf people in hearing competitions and sporting clubs.
- DSRQ attends and assists at training sessions provided by other organisationns e.g. Diving Clinic at Chandlers
- Sport events e.g. Multi-sports through Sporting Wheelies
- Skills on how to work with deaf athletes taught at DSRQ events such as Deaf Sports Day
- DSRQ's Deaf Sports Awareness Training to provide skills and support in coaching and working with Deaf athletes
- We can meet at DSRQ office or your office
Examples of State Sporting Organisations and DSRQ Working Together
- R.A.P.S Diving Club provided free diving clinics for deaf children at Chandlers every month. DSRQ supported these clinics by showing the coaches how to teach Deaf athletes with different communication techniques.
- Tenpin Bowling Association of Queensland provided free workshops for Deaf Youth Group. They taught skills and had professional coaches help teach the children
- Paradise Diving Club at Southport also provided free Diving Clinic sessions for deaf children during the school holidays
- Sporting Wheelies regularly meet with DSRQ to discuss awareness resources
- DSRQ worked with Lifestream to teach them communication strategies for deaf people with other disabilities
