William Katu wins National Deaf Tenpin Bowling Championship
William Katu has been bowling at the National Deaf Tenpin Bowling Championship for 15 years. This is the first time he has won. He became the Australian Individual Champion, for the Men's Individual Championship, held at Frankston Bowls on the Easter Weekend 2010.
In 2006 in Adelaide, He finished second place in the men's individual. It was a very close game.
Four Queenslanders have won the Australian Men's Individual Championship. First was John Girvan who won in 1983 and 1993. Second was David Graham who won in 2003. The third was Glen Martin who won in 2006. Now William Katu has also won the title in 2010.
William Katu has been playing tenpin bowling for over 28 years in both New Zealand and Australia.
In the last three games he bowled 202, 172, and 134.
His highest score is 221+45 = 266 points
Next November He is going to Argentina for a tenpin bowling tournament. There will be four countries participating each with six men's and six women's teams. The countries are - Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Argentina.
